The Conflict

Back at her quarters, L'ac lay in her bed, the day's events replaying in her mind. As she reflected on her interaction with Aika, guilt washed over her; perhaps she had been too harsh on her. The room was silent except for the whispering voice of the shadow, ever-present in the darkness."You don’t need her, or anyone else" it said soothingly, its form manifesting briefly to caress her cheek."You are stronger on your own. Trust in the power we share." The shadow's words were calming, seeping into her mind like a balm, easing the sting of her guilt.

Yet, in the quiet, another voice—a faint echo of her former self—whispered back, challenging the shadow's allure. "But what if this power changes me beyond recognition? What if I lose everything I fought for?" Memories of battles fought alongside Aika and their comrades flooded her mind. Laughter, camaraderie, shared victories... Could she really sever these bonds for the sake of unchecked power? Was she ready to face the consequences alone? With a deep, shaky breath, L'ac stood, the decision heavy on her shoulders. The shadow recoiled slightly, sensing her resistance.

"Yea, you are right." she whispered, but her voice carried a note of defiance, not surrender. She wasn't ready to let go—of her friends, her past, or herself.

Shadow Power

The next morning, L'ac was jolted awake by loud, insistent knocking on her door. With a mix of irritation and curiosity, she swung the door open. It was Aika standing in front of her door. She hesitated, her eyes scanning L'ac’s face for signs of the friend she once knew. "L'ac, we need you. Bandits have ambushed the main gate. We're holding them off, but it’s tough going without you." Her gaze was direct, appealing to L'ac’s sense of justice, which had always guided her in the past. Yet, it faltered slightly, betraying her uncertainty about which aspect of her friend was now facing her.

L'ac leaned against the doorframe, her smirk masking the swirl of darkness within. "A crisis without me? How have you managed so far?" Her tone was playful yet edged with dark resonance.

Aika's expression tightened, a mix of concern and resolve flickering across her face. "We’re managing because we have to. But L'ac, we need the hero we know, not this shadow you're becoming. Can you set aside these... new abilities and fight with us, as you once did?" Aika looked into L'ac’s eyes, searching for a glimpse of the warrior she trusted. "Just remember who you’re fighting for. Let that guide you, not the shadow."

With a nod that bore the weight of her internal conflict,"Lead the way then. Let’s save our home."
